A brief history of Schwing Stetter (UK) Ltd
Schwing Stetter (UK) Ltd (formerly Burlington Engineers Ltd) was incorporated in 1946 and has developed its business activities over the years as sole UK and, in many cases, Irish distributor of specialist construction equipment to the civil engineering and building industries and process equipment to other industries.
The scope of the company’s activities is in concrete pumping, placing and mixing, tunnel construction, foundation engineering and sludge handling. The diverse product range is interrelated and in many instances complementary in its application on major projects.
The manufacturers represented are well established, internationally renowned companies whose equipment is present in construction and industrial applications throughout the world.
The aim of the company is to maintain a high standard of service to our customers and fulfil their needs in all areas of our operations.
The company began trading from Old Burlington Street in London’s West End. Over the years moves have been made further west and the company now operates from Perivale Industrial Park at Greenford in Middlesex which is conveniently placed, being close to both the M40 and M25 and also near to the centre of London.
In the early 1950’s the company made a fundamental and major contribution to the UK foundation sector by importing the first Delmag diesel pile hammer. Ten years later in the mid 1960’s, Burlington Engineers Limited was appointed the UK and Irish distributor of Messrs F W Schwing GmbH, the pioneer of the oil hydraulic twin cylinder reciprocating concrete pump.
Since those early days, the company has supplied a diverse range of Schwing concrete pumping and placing equipment for use on the construction of concrete gravity platforms, nuclear power stations, major tunnelling projects (The Channel Tunnel), residential, industrial and office complexes including the hire rise towers at Canary Wharf.
Schwing Stetter (UK) Ltd, has had a quality system approved by British Standard Institute since March 1994. The company received accreditation to the new standard BS EN ISO 9001:2000 in December 2002.
