Worthy successor
SCHWING-Stetter recently introduced its new S 56 SXF truck-mounted concrete pump. It is set to inherit the proven S 55 SX while at the same time raising the bar significantly in many areas. Despite its extended reach height, the machine has become a good 2.5 t lighter and, thanks to the new boom concept, does not require an overhead roll-fold. The advantage is that there are no longer any restrictions in the choice of chassis and therefore also in the choice of engine. The cab also does not have to be modified, which saves effort and costs. The new foldable support, patented by Schwing, has already proven itself in the larger S 65 SXF and could also be installed in the S 56 SXF.
Herne, December 2021.
Where large conveying volumes have to be pumped over long periods of time, high-quality and robust machine technology is required. These characteristics should also characterize the new truck-mounted concrete pump from the German manufacturer Schwing, based in Herne. High pumping capacity at low motor speed and the well-known robustness of the Rock concrete valve promise low operating and maintenance costs combined with a long service life. Due to the low space requirement when supporting the truck-mounted concrete pump and a particularly short set-up time, according to the manufacturer, the new S 56 SXF should be considered an ideal working machine for demanding large construction sites with tight schedules. The S 56 SXF is expected to show its strengths particularly where large quantities of concrete have to be pumped constantly over long periods of time. The truck-mounted concrete pump has a reach height of 55.2 m, a delivery rate of 162 m3/h and a maximum delivery pressure of 85 bar.
Mast and pump battery
The 5-section mast of the S 56 SXF with roll-folding supports a significantly shorter set-up time thanks to special kinematics, thus offering maximum flexibility for any construction site. Schwing's arch support allows the use of the P2525 long-stroke pump battery with 2.5 m long delivery cylinders. Schwing cites smoother operation as a plus, as well as a significantly reduced number of strokes and thus less wear.
Open hydraulic system
Converting engine power into pumping power efficiently and with low losses was one of the design goals. In this discipline, the S 56 SXF aims to impress with its open hydraulic system, which makes it possible to achieve the usual pumping rates in practice at a fuel-saving engine speed of just over 1 000 min-1.
SXF support
The S 56 SXF does not require a multiple telescopic support. Instead, the SXF support developed by Schwing combines the proven, one-piece SX support with a folding support leg. Schwing cites reduced maintenance, increased stability and more quietness during pumping as advantages over multiple telescoping supports. Optimum protection against damage is said to be provided by the protected piston rod.
Concrete valve
Low wear of the Rock concrete valve and optimal geometry for low-friction concrete flow are said to ensure low service and operating costs and a long service life. And thanks to the good cleanability of the Rock concrete valve, the S 56 SXF should also be quickly ready for the next job without having to refill the water tank.
Supply operation
The water tank can be filled and emptied and the water pump, agitator, spray hose, high[1]pressure cleaner and compressor can be controlled via the uniform supply control - standard on all Schwing truck-mounted concrete pumps for greater clarity and ease of operation.
Radio remote control SC 30
The ergonomic design and low weight of the SC 30 radio remote control allow the operator to concentrate on the job at hand for long periods without tiring. Powerful rechargeable batteries guarantee at least eight hours of operation.
VECTOR II control
The intuitive VECTOR II control system allows the operator to call up the machine data, operating states and selected settings of the S 56 SXF and to change various parameters. The integrated diagnostic system ensures safe operation and informs the operator about maintenance intervals.
All in all, the S 56 SXF has been designed as a high-quality endurance athlete with buffer with low wear thanks to the delivery line extended to DN125. And thanks to the five-section mast, Schwing sees many possible applications.
